My father-in-law, Erik Larsen, fought in the Korean War. He was in the first MASH unit as a surgeon. The picture to the left shows him in the forefront, hours before he was blown up in his jeep. This battle was known as the "May Massacre," when Chinese Communist troops cut off and overran their unit on May 18, 1951. Erik, the only survivor in the jeep, was missing for three days before US troops found him.
